So, how does a guy from Pittsburgh end up in Texas? Let alone
Bartlesville, Oklahoma? Where?
Originally From: Lower Burrell, PA (the lesser known LBC) - a
small suburb, NE of Pittsburgh
Education: Attended the University of Notre Dame,
graduated with a degree in MIS in May, 2003. ND is a beautiful campus,
with a lot of tradition and spirit. What makes it so special is
the faith and the people you find there - both aspects were among my
favorite parts of college. ND helped me become who I am today, and I love
going back for games. GO IRISH!
Occupation: After college, I went to work for
ConocoPhillips, Inc (a global petroleum company), and have been working there
continually in various IT related positions. It has been a very
educational and rewarding experience. My first year, I supported software
that was being used on a Natural Gas trading floor. It was an
exciting first job in Corporate America. The second year, I completed two
rotations, each six-months in length. During these rotations, I moved to
the shared services headquarters of the company, which are in a small town
about an hour north of Tulsa - Bartlesville, OK. The first was with a
Wireless Services team, supporting 802.11 architecture. The second was
with the Active Directory team, writing an internal web-page to manage
sponsorships in AD. I am currently working on a global procurement
initiative, specifically working with automating contract labor management,
through SAP Portals, and other systems.
Fun: I enjoy playing tennis, running, swimming, working out, Xbox, and maybe having a libation now and then. I love going to the beach, but hardly ever make it there. Also, I like to ski, but it's been a long time since I had learned, and I am just a beginner. I'm enjoying a project to read through the entire Bible right now - start to finish - and we Catholics have a few extra books. It is a lot to get through, but it provides a great journey.
Family: I have four siblings, and I love being part of a
big family. When you're a kid, all you can see is having to share, but
now it's a bunch of best friends. Mom and Dad started it all, and kept us
all in line. My older brothers are Bryan, and Matt. My younger twin
sisters are Kara and Kate.
Travel: Two Study Abroad programs have allowed me some
truly amazing experiences: the first to London for four weeks,
during the summer of 2000. We visited stonehendge, bath, Canterbury, and
had class just blocks from Trafalgar square. The second to Fremantle,
Australia, a colonial shipping town with a rich history, just south of Perth,
the largest city in Western Australia. I studied there for the first half
of 2002. Australia was beautiful, scenic, and truly an amazing
experience. Our trips brought us to Singapore, Malaysia, the Great
Barrier Reef, Sydney, Perth, Rottnest Island, the wineries of the Margaret
River, the beach resort town of Broome, and an aboriginal camp in the true
"outback". *By the way, No one drinks Fosters in Australia. Now
that I am working, I have taken shorter trips (some for more SCUBA adventures),
and have traveled to Europe and Germany for Oktoberfest! I love traveling
to such fun places, and look forward to more great opportunities like the ones
I have had.
